Starstruck: e-cigarettes get big break in hollywood

It’s the talk of the town; e-cigarettes have become a hot new accessory in Tinseltown, with more and more celebs flaunting the tobacco look-alike in public. If we read the signs right, it seems as if tobacco is so passé, and electric is the to way to go these days.

This we know for sure; Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp have already made the switch. Rumour has it that Lindsay Lohan and Bradley Cooper are e-cig advocates as well. Allegedly, new daddy Ryan Gosling might be a fan as well. Consequently, tobacco seems to have lost the last of its star appeal.

Hollywood has a long history of idealizing smoking on the silver screen, just think of Humphrey Bogart puffing away in “Casablanca” or Audrey Hepburn and her trademark black cigarette holder in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s".

The success of the e-cigarette might very well mark the end of an era, when smoking was considered the ultimate symbol of rebellion and freedom. So where did all this start, we hear you asking – well, it might have been when "Knocked Up" star Katherine Heigl shocked talk-show host David Letterman by having an e-smoke live on air.

Here’s the e-cigarette enjoying its star status – have a glimpse for yourself!
